The New Orleans 100: ‘Get out and help someone,’ say local teens

“Being around other people, working together and helping others is what it’s all about,” said SERVE Mini Camp participant Miguel D’Elia.

His sentiments were echoed by local teenagers who participated in a Catholic Charities SERVE Mini Camp at Ozanam Inn. SERVE stands for Students Engaging in Reflective Volunteer Experiences.

Local teen Ashley Heller said she participates in many service projects but working for an entire week with one mission is special. “It’s a really great way to learn and experience your faith,” said Heller. “We are here living our faith.”
