Housing & Homelessness Services
Homeless Services provide shelter and case management for individuals with chronic mental and physical health needs and families experiencing homelessness.
Services include permanent supportive housing and sixteen independent apartments for intact, single-parent families. We provide case management, counseling, advocacy, referrals for additional services, therapeutic and educational groups. Additionally, we provide home-based case management, counseling, life skills training, budget planning, advocacy, linkages to mainstream resources, and referrals for additional services.
- Bridges to Self-Sufficiency works with single-parent families. It assists families in finding transitional housing for three to six months until they can get back on their feet.
- Bethlehem Housing is a rapid rehousing program that is designed to help families quickly exit homelessness, return to housing in the community and not become homeless again.
- Ciara Independent Living provides stable, safe, and stigma-free housing for severely chronically homeless and persistently mentally ill individuals. Case management services are provided to assist them in an independent life.
- Sacred Heart Apartments Sacred Heart Apartments PSH case management supports 55 chronically homeless individuals in New Orleans, with the priority of serving veterans. Sacred Heart PSH case management works to keep clients housed by focusing on establishing a mental health care regimen for each client, and working with clients to address various health and extraneous factors. The program’s four case managers go beyond simply preventing clients’ return to homelessness; they strive to ensure that clients are living their lives to the most meaningful extent possible. (Individuals must be referred through UNITY’s Coordinated Entry System and approved by HRI, the Louisiana PSH office, and Louisiana Housing Corporation.)
Most clients have been living in an emergency shelter, on the streets, or in a place not meant for human habitation. We work to provide them with care that addresses immediate needs as well as building long-term plans for housing.
