Sr. Marjorie Hebert, MSC named interim President/CEO of Catholic Charities

Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond today announced the appointment of Sr. Marjorie Hebert, MSC as interim President/CEO of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans.  Sr. Marjorie will fill the vacancy created when current President/CEO Gordon Wadge accepted a position with the YMCA.

“Sr. Marjorie joins our staff with many years of leadership experience in administration, education and health care,” said Archbishop Aymond.

“It is with excitement and happiness that I accept the appointment as Interim President and CEO of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans.  I am honored and humbled at the confidence in me expressed by Archbishop Aymond in this appointment.  I look forward to further developing and promoting the mission of service and outreach to the many men, women and children who are served by Catholic Charities.  I hope to use my experience of service and leadership in working with the board, the department directors and staff to meet the present and future challenges in serving God’s people,” said Sr. Marjorie.

Sr. Marjorie most recently served as Vice President for Finances and Operations and Associate to the President for Ministry at Our Lady of Holy Cross College. She entered the order of the Marianites  of  Holy Cross in September of 1960 and made her Perpetual Profession in August of 1969.  Sr. Marjorie is noted for creating the concept, developing and supervising the construction of Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center, a $25 million project.  She has served in leadership of her congregation and previously served as a teacher, principal, district supervisor and Superintendant of Catholic Schools.  Sr. Marjorie’s appointment takes effect January 2, 2013.

Wadge has served 33 years at Catholic Charities and previously at the Social Apostolate before the two agencies merged in 2003.  Wadge said, “Sr. Marjorie is very well respected in the community.  She’s a visionary, having had the foresight to develop a facility like Our Lady of Wisdom to meet the needs of our aging priests and religious.”
