Refugee Services
Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans Refugee Services Program is the only refugee resettlement agency in the Greater New Orleans area. The Refugee Services team provides resettlement and self-sufficiency services to newly arrived refugees and other immigrants granted special humanitarian legal status. Through our Reception and Placement component, we offer resettlement support from the moment they arrive at the airport and beyond.
Program services range from providing case management support, employment services, interpretation services, access to English language training, community outreach, mentorship, continued cultural orientation, and integration into the community to ensure clients’ self-sufficiency. Refugees represent a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, languages, and educational/professional experience. Our team welcomes and supports new Americans who are resettled here by the U.S. government from countries all over the world to build new lives for themselves in the United States.
Refugee Services can work with people with the following immigration status/documentation: Refugee, Asylee, Cuban/Haitian Entrant, Ukrainian Humanitarian Parole Holder, Special Immigrant Visa Holder (SIV), and foreign national Human Trafficking Victims.
Ihssan Sharbah worked with U.S. Forces in Iraq for years, but when dangerous circumstances in the country forced him to flee to the United States, he was surprised by what awaited him and his family. Watch Ihssan’s story below.
