Parish and Community Ministries
Our Parish and Community Ministry and Parish Social Ministry provides resources, assistance, and development for our parishes to better care for the people in need in their communities. Our case managers strive to connect those in need to available resources, programs, and ministries within Catholic Charities and through our network of community partners.
Our Impact
In 2014, throughout all 118 Catholic Church Parishes in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, at least one (and in most cases many more) program or service was at work in every church parish. Our Parish and Community Ministries team works to document and analyze the services experienced in each parish in order for us to assess and address the evolving needs of those in our Parishes. We look for ways to connect our social ministries to pastoral ministries, working to provide nourishment for the body and the soul through our collaborative work.
Recently, the Catholic Charities Parish and Community Ministries program was chosen to become a Benefits Enrollment Center through the National Council on Aging. This program is designed to provide a “benefit check-up” for individuals and families who are receiving Medicare to ensure they are receiving other benefits to which they may be eligible.
