Catholic Charities is asking people to donate supplies for people affected by the recent flooding. Organizers say baby formula and diapers as well as cleaning supplies, trash bags, and gift cards to area stores are needed most. The items will be distributed in Tangipahoa, Washington and St. Tammany parishes.

In a written statement, Sr. Marjorie Hebert said, “Removing debris, assisting with the necessary cleanup, and securing the items that families desperately need is the first step in the recovery process.” Hebert is the President and CEO of Catholic Charities. “We are grateful to Helm Paint and Decorating for serving as a collection point for donated cleaning supplies, diapers and formula which will allow Catholic Charities to provide assistance to as many people as possible,” the statement continues.

Helm Paint is accepting the donations during the stores’ business hours. Please remember that the stores are closed on Sundays. Helm is also contributing $25 gift cards to help cover the cost of paint for flood victims who need to repair their homes or businesses.
