Children & Young Adults
After School Assembly After School Assembly provides a safe, fun, educational environment for children K-8 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm weekdays. In three locations throughout the New Orleans area, students receive help with homework, a snack, and have the opportunity to participate in dance, athletics and other enrichment activities. Counselors are at each location daily. There is a $25 registration fee. There is a sliding fee scale based upon residency and income determined at registration. The fee is from $0 - $4 per day. Catholic Charities School-Based Counseling We provide crisis response and consultation to Catholic schools throughout the Greater New Orleans Area. We also contract with the St. Charles Parish School Board, Special Education Department, to provide school social work services. (504) 596-3084 ___________________________________________________
Head Start Head Start programs provide education, social services, and health screenings to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Early Head Starts serve children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old, while Head Stars serve children 3 to 5 years old. (504) 861-6360

Independent Living Skills Program Independent Living Skills Program (ILSP) assists teens and young adults (14-21) to prepare for changes they will experience when they leave the State’s foster care and are living on their own. The aftercare program serves young adults (18-25) who continue to face the challenges of independent living. ILSP provides life skills classes and assessments, and through the Hope Chest Donation Center, assists clients to set up and maintain their first apartment or home. Summer Witness Summer Witness operates camps located in the Greater New Orleans area during the summer, providing education, recreation, nutrition services, and a swimming program for children who would otherwise not have the opportunity. (504) 861-6360

Community Centers Community Centers provide long term case management, with direct assistance as part of a holistic approach to recovery. New clients are only taken on the 1st or 2nd day of each month. Please call for an appointment. List of Community Centers

Therapeutic Family Services Therapeutic Family Services provides homes for behaviorally disordered, developmentally delayed, or medically dependent children in need of foster care. The City of New Orleans funds community-based mental health services for those who apply. (504) 310-6944
