Oil Spill Volunteering
Catholic Charities is currently in need of volunteers to help us outreach to families who work in fishing-related industries affected by the oil spill. All volunteers must initially attend an Oil Spill/ Disaster Relief Volunteer Orientation; orientations will take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 2pm on the 10th floor of 1000 Howard Avenue New Orleans, LA 70113. After volunteers attend an orientation, they will be able to volunteer the next day at a Catholic Charities Community Center in either St. Bernard or New Orleans East. Volunteers will be taking surveys and helping to distribute food. St. Bernard needs volunteers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am-2pm; New Orleans East needs volunteers Monday-Friday who are either bilingual or interpreters of Vietnamese. Volunteers must be 18 or older and must have their own transportation. Volunteers must also be willing to travel to locations that are 30-45 minutes away. This is the only oil spill-related volunteer opportunity that we currently have available. If you have any questions or concerns, please, call 504-310-6978 or email volunteer@archdiocese-no.org.
