Cornerstone Builders Mentors

Cornerstone Builders is a Catholic Charities program to help formerly incarcerated persons reintegrate into society. Read more about Cornerstone Builders >

Be a mentor.

While our Cornerstone Builders program helps formerly incarcerated persons, we also recognize that children with incarcerated parents need positive, present role models, and that’s why we provide mentors to Cornerstone children.

Children with incarcerated parents are six times more likely than other children to become incarcerated without positive intervention.

You can help by becoming a mentor to a child whose parent is incarcerated. Your commitment of four hours per month for one year can be at your convenience – you can meet in person, via telephone, or through email.

Please contact Shatarra Gibson at (504) 310-8769  for more information or to sign up to be a mentor.

All mentor trainings are held at Catholic Charities, 1000 Howard Avenue, 1st floor conference room, New Orleans, LA 70113 and begin at 6 PM.

Mentors must also attend Catholic Charities Volunteer Orientations.
