Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans Isaiah 43 Parenting and Mentoring Program joins with community members of the NOLA Interfaith Peace Initiative and the Peace League in hosting a Youth Peace Summit and the second annual Peace Basketball Tournament this July 1 and 2, 2015 at Loyola University New Orleans. Young men and women ages 16-25 interested in building strong, peaceful communities are invited to participate in this free event which includes panel discussions and culminates in a community basketball tournament. More about the Peace League of New Orleans

Developed in response to requests from participants at the NOLA Peace Initiative’s 2014 Peace Basketball Tournament, the Peace League of New Orleans was developed to offer year-round opportunities for young men to develop skills on and off the basketball court. Players participate in weekly empowerment workshops addressing such issues as jobs, workforce development, education, non-violent conflict resolution, health, and community leadership. The league offers year-round opportunities for young men to develop skills on and off the court.  Players participate in weekly empowerment workshops addressing such issues as jobs, workforce development, education, peaceful conflict resolution, health, and community leadership.

More about Isaiah 43 Parenting and Mentoring Program

Isaiah 43 is a parenting and mentoring program of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans. The program is rooted in Judeo-Christian values and teachings with a mission of strengthening and supporting families to bring about a change in the culture of our society. Isaiah 43 engages youth and parents to encourage peaceful conflict resolution, skillful communication, constructive discipline, forgiveness, and leadership development.
