Catholic Campaign for Human Development Second Collection is this Weekend

USCCB logo

The bishops of the United States began the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) in 1969 as a way to respond to Jesus’ Gospel challenge to proclaim liberation and freedom from oppression (Luke 4:18).  They saw a need to work for transformation of the root causes of poverty and injustice.

Catholic Charities Office of Justice and Peace  coordinates CCHD activities in our Archdiocese. Here in New Orleans, CCHD funds the Micah Project and Families and Friends of Louisiana’s Incarcerated Children (FFLIC). The Micah Project brings together communities of faith to work for the betterment of neighborhoods through empowerment.  FFLIC is working for reform of the juvenile justice system towards a system that promotes rehabilitation and restoration of relationships.

The CCHD Second Collection will take place at masses this Saturday and Sunday, November 17 and 18 throughout our Archdiocese. Please remember this in your giving this weekend. Thank you for supporting this important initiative!
