Since 2007, New Orleans CityBusiness’ Health Care Heroes has honored health care professionals in the New Orleans area in the categories of animal care, nursing, physicians, professionals and volunteers. The honorees are selected based on achievements in their industry and community involvement.
This year, Michelle Robinson, NFA, MBA, Executive Director of Catholic Charities’ PACE GNO, was honored as a Health Care Hero in the professionals category!

PACE, the Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly, promotes the health, independence, and dignity of senior citizens by enabling frail older adults to live in their homes and communities as long as medically and socially feasible. It is a comprehensive healthcare program that includes Adult Day Health Centers, primary and specialty physician care, medications, rehabilitative therapy, personal care services and transportation.
As the Executive Director of PACE, Michelle Robinson is responsible for creating an environment and culture that enables the organization to fulfill its mission by meeting and exceeding its goals. She has developed the program’s annual operating capital and strategic business plans, reducing operational costs by an average of 15%. She also implemented PACE service area growth across the Greater New Orleans Area to provide a full continuum of primary care services to elderly residents of Kenner and the Westbank.
Previously, Michelle served as PACE’s Director of Provider Relations and Network Development and was responsible for the creation of a network development strategy and the expansion of the provider network. She initiated and maintained productive long-term provider relationships with new and existing provider representatives, physicians, hospitals and nursing homes. Additionally, Michelle identified and evaluated alternative revenue sources by introducing new services and service areas, reducing the cost of service by an average of 15% and operating expenses by an average of 20%.
In addition to her work at PACE, Michelle is also an integral part of the Greater New Orleans community. She is a member of the Louisiana Nursing Home Association, American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE Educational Committee), New Orleans Continuity of Care, Greater New Orleans Women Healthcare Executive Network and 504HealthNet. She also volunteers with Toys for Tots, the St. Bernard Project, Second Harvest Food Bank and the Crescent City Classic.
Michelle demands excellence of herself and her staff and motivates staff to enhance performance with on-going assessments to ensure continuous improvement in all key performance areas. She is a goal-driven, compassionate and accountable professional with over 20 years of leadership experience in fast-paced healthcare facilities. She has a proven history of successful teambuilding, recruiting and managing healthcare professionals to ensure exemplary care.
