Head Start is a child and family development program that provides services and experiences to promote the growth and development of the family with special emphasis on a comprehensive range of services to the family’s 3 and 4 year old preschool children, including children with disabilities. The services include health (medical and dental), social services, mental health services, nutrition services and early childhood education to promote the growth and development of each child socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. Families are provided experiences and services geared toward removing barriers to social and economic self-sufficiency and opportunities for full participation in all aspects of the program.
If you are interested in getting a “Head Start” for your child, the following Head Start and Early Head Start Centers are accepting applications for children ages 6 weeks– 5 years of age, depending on location. Please bring your child’s birth certificate, proof of income and Parent/Guardian Identification to the center of your choice.
