Cornerstone Kids Mentoring program receives grant from the Fore!Kids Foundation

The Fore!Kids Foundation distributed $265,000 to 28 New Orleans-area children’s charities in an event at St. Michael Special School on February 26, 2015, realizing a total of $1.8 million in charitable giving from the 2014 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans was among the recipients of these awards, receiving $7,500 to support the Cornerstone Kids Mentoring program.

An initiative of Cornerstone Builders, Cornerstone Kids connects children of incarcerated parents with volunteer mentors. Through one-on-one activities and group meetings, mentors provide support and encouragement that promotes trust, confidence, enthusiasm, personal growth and positive thinking. In addition to the mentoring component, this program coordinates monthly bus trips to Louisiana’s detention facilities for families with an incarcerated relative.

Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans extends heartfelt thanks to the Fore!Kids Foundation for their support!

Since 1958, the Fore!Kids Foundation has raised money to fund children’s service organizations through golf events like the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the Golf Ball Gala and several charitable golf tournaments. As a 501(c)(3) corporation, Fore!Kids has helped to raise more than $26 million to date for children’s charities in metro New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
